Last month, Conjunto Guantanamo were invited to play at the fifteenth annual Richmond Folk Festival in Virginia by the National Council for Traditional Arts. We met many new friends and had a wonderful time sharing our music with the massive throngs that attend this festival (typically over 200,000 people attend). Our band played 4 performances over the weekend and in addition, we had the opportunity to do a Master class at a local elementary school. We were even invited to participate in Global Voices: Asia to the Americas as part of a panel sharing and discussing their own respective vocal traditions.
